10 Free Yoga Flows For Digestion & Belly Fat

Yoga, I believe, should be a part of everyone’s life and health plan. Yoga offers SO MANY BENEFITS. Improving digestion and getting a flatter belly are just a few reasons to start!
Yoga has helped me in my own healing journey, from back pain, anxiety to yep you guessed it bloating.
What yoga poses are good for digestion?
There are several yoga poses that are good for digestion and detoxification
Many of which include twisting and poses where there is pressure on the digestive tract.
Some examples are:
Downward facing dog
Wind relieving posture
Seated forward fold
Does Pranayama help with digestion?
Pranayama, defined by yogapedia as:
Pranayama is the conscious awareness of breath. It’s the life force that both energizes and relaxes the body. The term is derived from the Sanskrit, prana, meaning “life force,” and ayama, meaning “extension.”
Pranayama (breathing practices) can be a great way to ease digestive discomfort.
When we deeply breathe through our belly, we are able to access the parasympathetic nervous system. This puts the body in the “rest & digest” mode allowing more blood flow to the digestive tract which helps to stimulate digestion.
Yoga poses for digestion after eating
It’s important to know that yoga should ideally be practiced on an empty stomach but that is not suitable for a lot of people (myself included) so don’t practice yoga directly after a meal.
Instead, wait a few hours before you roll out your mat.
Yin yoga for digestion
Yin Yoga involves low passive poses held for a long duration. This type of yoga is great for deeply stretching the muscles and connective tissues and for relaxation and stress.
